We Lose If We Quit

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

My husband is part of the PTO in our daughter’s school. I get to hear him wine about being an officer. He is not quite good with that. He always tells me. I assured him that I will always be behind him with all of this since it’s for our daughter’s sake. One of the things that they do is of course to raise funds for the school. There has been a lot of school fundraiser activity that they did. PTO fundraisers are always fun especially if everybody will cooperate most especially the kids. PTO Today can help a lot in getting ideas on fund raising. Being a leader at work, thinking about it seems easy for me. But for my husband, it was always a challenge for him to lead. But there are a lot of helpful resources that is available online. I told him that it may be challenge for him but once this is all done, he will be so proud of himself and will add more to his confidence that he can do it. In life, you don’t get all the easy tasks. Sometimes, we also get the tough ones. But if we quit without trying, then it’s like accepting the fact that we lose. So the choice is really up to us now.

Not Ready

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

There are times that I entertain the thought of quitting my job. It has been eating a lot in my life. I started searching for some online degrees that I can take up while I’m still working so I will have a fallback in case. But then again, most of the time, I would hear myself say, I love this job. And I am not yet ready to quit.

Should I still?

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

My friends commented that people at work are slowly getting slimmer. Its either they are in love, they are sick, they are desperate to get a boyfriend or they are on a diet. It’s like the latest fad at work. Even guys are planning to go on jogging, badminton, gym and like to get those unwanted fats out. It’s a good fad though. It encourages me to do the same. In that case, I don’t need to get that best weight loss pills. Or should I still?

Reality Check?

Monday, July 5th, 2010

I was on emergency leave for 2 days because my daughter was admitted in the hospital. I will be reporting to work today but I am anxious of the work load that awaits my return. I wish I have a document management systemthat I could access anywhere so that even if I’m not working, I can still work. Well, reality checks? I don’t have one so just have to be efficient and creative in managing my time so I won’t be left behind…

Love Your Job

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

“Protect your right to claim compensation now before it’s too late”. Quoted this from Gulf Coast Jones Act lawyers. It strikes me when I read it. Sometimes, we often fail to fight for our right especially in the workplace because first and foremost, we need the job and second, fighting would take so much time. I am not saying that we just have to keep silent nor am I saying that we should always counter act. Just love your job and do your job. Because life is not always fair and if you love your job, you would not think about what’s lacking but you’ll always be grateful of what you have.

Only Time Can Tell

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

I took up AB Mass Communication in college. However, I ended up in a job that is not really related to my course. In fact I ended up in a job that is totally out of my college degree or personal experience in fact. It amazes me when I look back in my college days, I remember so well that I really hated to take up a computer course or any course related to technology. It’s funny that I ended up working for a computer and technology related company. Now I may not be an expert yet, but I know so much about it already. I wanted to take up IT courses. I know there are lots of information technology online degrees that can easily take. How I wish that I have enough time to do this. The desire would always be there. But I am not sure if I can make it come true. In life, I know that you can never have everything. There are some things that you wanted but you could not have. You have to be open to this kind of scenarios in life. It’s not something you have to be sad about. It’s something that you have to keep on looking forward to. Chances are, it may be impossible, but then, only time can tell.

A Bum No More

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

I came across a site that sells Used Office Furniture San Diego. I remember that I wanted to have a mini office in the house. I was able to buy a used office table at a very cheap price. I was happy that I was able to make a mini office in the corner of our room. Now I can freely do some office works. Tasks that I sometimes bring home if I need to catch up with some deliverables at work. I wonder if I can find used Office Cubicles as well so my little office corner would really look like a mini office. I know there are Refurbished Cubicles that we can get for a cheap price. I know this may sound so unpractical of me, but I am also thinking of getting serious doing online business so that is why I need to do this. I am also teaching my husband to try out home based office works. I think I am becoming a workaholic ever since I started working as a Team Manager at work. I now even work on Sundays but at home. I write articles most of the time. I am also studying photography and photo editing. I know this is not good. But what can I do? It’s not about how much I earn but it’s the fulfillment I feel. I was a bum for quite a while when I was still single. Now I am making up for those lost unproductive years.

My Work Overview

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

At wok, I used to handle 18 people under me. Now that we are short staff, I only have 11 subordinates. Though they are fewer than what I used to handle, still checking up on each and every one of them still takes time. They are all having different desktops and most of the time they sit away from each other. So when I need to check and monitor them, I sometimes do remote. Good thing our company has a good remote desktop software. It really makes work a little easier. I can see what my agents are doing while on the phone. What tools they used or sometimes if they are accessing some unrelated sites. Without this, I could not imagine myself running from one station to the other. It would kill a lot of my time. Time management is important for me. Though there are a lot of deliverables at work, I can still finish them on time. Though most of the time, I beat deadlines. I have an organizer and I follow strictly my schedule. I coach, mentor, monitor, audit, listen to calls, root cause analysis, action planning, create initiatives for the team, check or scrub my peoples time punches, serve memos, attend admin hearing, operations meeting with management, calibration sessions, motivates people, performance review, take escalated calls and a lot, lot more…

Wise Advice

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

At work, I used to take escalated calls from agents because their customers are willing to pay for support but do not have any credit card. But as per policy, we do not take any other forms of payment but through credit card. Sometimes I feel for the customer because they really need the support but we cannot provide it to them. So when the customer asks me “What do I need to do?” I usually tell them if they know of somebody that has a credit card and borrow from them or better yet get a prepaid card so they can purchase our support. Most often than not, I would end the call with a somewhat satisfied customer.

I Miss The Job

Friday, April 9th, 2010

I used to be a freelance Production Assistant before. And part of the job is also doing marketing and promotion. Part of promoting the shows or events is getting sponsors. In order for us to get our sponsors, we need to present them some media mileages as exchange deals so they will give us the budget we need to come up with a good show or event. Pardon me for the jargons. Okay, let me talk in laymen’s term. We need to include our sponsor’s company logo in our banners and streamers. And we have to spend a lot on it as well at the same time try to make our Production Budget fit. A wholesale banner stand would help a lot. We place banners on the venue site and sometimes would get permits to display streamers in town to promote our show. Oh how I miss those days. It’s tiring and would require a lot of physical strength. But once the project ends, nothing could compare to the kind of fulfillment you would feel each time you hear commendations, applauses and even simple thank yous from our sponsors. And the best part of it is when you would get paid and gets your share or product and freebies from our sponsors. I just miss those days. I really do.
